Your own image is the most significant image that you will, at any time, alter in your subconscious mind. You will begin with this image. You will begin to recreate your subconscious imagery by recreating your existing body image. Before starting your imagery training, it is significant that you become totally calm for the concentration of your mind. Once you have accomplished this you will find that it is quite easy to engage all of your senses allowing you to create a new body image. Once you feel completely relaxed I want you to see a picture of your body in your subconscious. When you focus on your body, I want you to reshape it, exactly how you want it to look.
See your new body down to the smallest detail; make it so real that it looks like you’ve already hit your target weight. Once you’ve completed your new body image, engage in some physical activity that you know you’ll enjoy and that will help you reach your new weight goal. This task can range from a brisk walking to an aerobics class, to tennis or to finalizing an uncompleted assignment. Your new body is now able to do whatever activity you find enjoyable.
The emotional states that cause you to overeat or overeat when you are not hungry are fear, anger and guilt. These emotional states lead to the problems of low self-esteem and depression. When you create your new self-image, you need to exchange these negative emotional states for your most powerful emotional state. Love is your strongest emotional state, particularly when it is diverted to your own new self-image. It is necessary that you practice on a daily basis for reproducing your new active body imagery. It is only through daily practice that your new body image will become a permanent part of your subconscious, allowing you to reproduce that image without a moment’s thought. The power of mind lies in its ability to change programmed emotional states that don’t work for you, to programmed emotional states that work for you.
The health of your body depends on your mental health, and taking control of the subconscious is the key to permanent and lasting change in any behavior.
